Translation
I am a translator of three languages into English; Spanish, French and Portuguese. My main specialities are Law and Finance, being a qualified
accountant. In my 6 years of operations I have translated over 1.8 million words for a variety of direct and agency clients in the UK and Europe. However I have also acquired experience in a wide
range of Technical, Academic and Marketing translations especially in such fields as Tourism and Architecture. I also offer Proofreading,
Transcreation and MT Post editing services.
I have an MA in Translation Studies from the University of Birmingham, as well as a 1st class BA Hons degree in Spanish and French. During this time I
also spent two years studying Portuguese. I have also studied at the University of Zaragoza in Spain and at Aix en Provence in France, and work with Spanish universities in the
translation of academic texts.
As a freelance translator, I believe in offering the highest quality of service to the client. I aim to fulfill all aspects of the brief through research, attention to detail and respecting the
deadline. I work with Cat tools, such as Wordfast and SDL Trados files and am familiar with client platforms such as Memsource, XTM, MemoQ and
others.
Teaching
I am a graduate of French and Spanish from the University of Birmingham with a 1st class honours degree. I
am CELTA qualified (Cambridge English Language Teaching to Adults) for teaching English as a second language to adults. I
have also had experience of teaching English to adolescents at various summer schools. Although I am used to teaching groups and individuals face to face I now specialise in giving classes
via Skype mainly to the Spanish market. I currently have around 25 individual and corporate clients mainly working in
the Finance and IT sectors, as well
as Education, Health and the Arts. The teaching is geared
to the individual requirements of the client, and can be aimed at improving particular skills, with particular areas such as Business English or to pass certain examinations such
as Cambridge First.
